Companion service
Leuchie at Home works in partnership with East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership.
We offer this service to those who have a long-term neurological condition or stroke as their primary condition, who live in East Lothian (Dunbar to Port Seton). Each person is given at least 2 hours each week, allowing their partner/carer time to themselves, using this valuable time in a variety of ways from shopping or meeting a friend for coffee, to catching up with the gardening.
The person being looked after by a volunteer has the opportunity to choose how they would like to spend their time. This could include quizzes, chat, listening to music, help with a hobby, help with technology such as iPads or go out for a stroll (if it is safe to do so).
- The service operates Monday to Thursday during daytime working hours.
- Volunteers are thoroughly checked, trained and supported through this process.
- The service does not offer nursing or personal care.
- We may not be able to offer support to a person who has dementia.
