Purpose:
To ensure guests are safe and comfortable when using one of Leuchie’s easy chairs, considering the chairs’ Maximum User Weight.
The term easy chair includes reclining, reclining/rising and tilt/in/space chairs.
Procedure:
- All Easy chairs are safe to use by guests who do not exceed a body weight of 130kg.
- Easy chairs which can take a Maximum User Weight of 160kg display a blue tag at the back at the bottom left hand corner.
- Guests weighing between 130 and 160kg will be advised which easy chair(s) are safe for their use.
- Any guest that exceeds the 130kg weight limit will be highlighted in the fortnightly bedsheet and at the all-staff reports so all staff are aware of the additional requirements of the guest.
- Staff will ensure that guests use an easy chair capable of taking the guest’s weight as documented in the manual handling risk assessment.
- Staff will monitor ongoingly guest’s compliance, in particular where a guest is mobile and able to move from chair to chair independently.
- Staff will assist guests transferring in and out of a suitable easy chair in accordance with the guest manual handling risk assessment to ensure the health and safety of both staff and guest.
