About Leuchie
This statement applies to Leuchie (referred to in this statement as “the Organisation”). The information included in the statement refers to the financial year 2024.
Leuchie is a national respite charity specialising in short breaks for people living with neurological conditions.
Leuchie operates through Leuchie House which provides direct care for individuals; self-catering adapted properties where families can holiday together; and a Leuchie at Home befriending service offering short periods of respite for loved ones caring for an individual with a long-term neurological condition.
As a charity and a small organisation with a low headcount we assess ourselves to have a low risk of modern slavery both in our business and our supply chains.
Definitions
The Organisation considers that modern slavery encompasses:
-
- human trafficking
- forced work, through mental or physical threat
- being owned or controlled by an employer through mental or physical abuse of the threat of abuse
- being dehumanised, treated as a commodity or being bought or sold as property
- being physically constrained or to have restriction placed on freedom of movement.
Commitment
The Organisation acknowledges its responsibilities in relation to tackling modern slavery and commits to complying with the provisions in the Modern Slavery Act 2015. The Organisation understands that this requires an ongoing review of both its internal practices in relation to its labour force and, additionally, its supply chains.
The Organisation does not enter into business with any other organisation, in the United Kingdom or abroad, which knowingly supports or is found to involve itself in slavery, servitude and forced or compulsory labour.
No labour provided to the Organisation in the pursuance of the provision of its own services is obtained by means of slavery or human trafficking. The Organisation strictly adheres to the minimum standards required in relation to its responsibilities under relevant employment legislation.
Supply chains
Our supply chains are limited and we procure goods and services from a restricted range of UK and overseas suppliers.
Through modifying our own operations and encouraging our suppliers to do so, we consider the social, environmental and financial impact of our business throughout our supply chain.
This statement is applicable to all persons working for us or on our behalf in any capacity, including employees, trustees, agency workers, seconded workers, volunteers, interns, contractors, external consultants and business partners.
Steps
We ensure that the principles within this commitment are embedded at Leuchie by:
- Continuing to act to embed a zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery through policies and training.
- Ensuring staff involved in procurement activity are aware of and follow modern slavery procurement guidance on GOV.UK.
Policies
The following policies are available to all team members:
- Equity, diversity and inclusion policy.
- Grievance policy.
- Harassment and bullying policy.
- Recruitment policy.
- Whistleblowing policy.
Leuchie ensures that all employees are paid more that the living wage, and we conduct regular salary benchmarking where all salary grades are reviewed against the external market.
This statement is made in pursuance of Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and will be reviewed for each financial year.
