Leuchie is a finalist in Herald Scottish Impact Awards

Leuchie – The National Respite Charity has been named as a finalist in the 2026 Herald Scottish Impact Awards, in the Wellbeing & Workforce Award category.

The awards recognise organisations across Scotland that are prioritising employee wellbeing, mental health, fair wages and ethical employment practices – and Leuchie’s nomination reflects a year of significant investment in its people.

Following the launch of our new five-year strategy in 2026, Leuchie brought colleagues together to help shape three new organisational values – Excellence, Empathy and Integrity – ensuring they were built from the voices of the whole team. This was backed by the launch of “Leading People at Leuchie,” a management development programme focused on compassionate, values-led leadership, alongside a peer-led recognition initiative celebrating Leuchie team members living those values day to day.

Leuchie has also strengthened its wellbeing offer with eight trained mental health first aiders, fortnightly reflective practice sessions, an Employee Assistance Programme, and flexible working arrangements – underpinned by our status as an accredited living wage employer.

The impact has been clear: in the first six months of 2026, Leuchie welcomed 22 new colleagues, with retention among the Leuchie team of over a year’s service reaching 98.9%. Our employee engagement survey results provide further evidence of the difference this investment is making – work-life balance was identified by 71% of our team as the strongest reason they choose to remain at Leuchie, supported by positive team relationships and Leuchie’s organisational culture and values.
