Research

As our Centre for Enabling Technology develops, we have realised the potential for our guests to be involved in cutting edge technology-related research studies, as well as general research studies related to neurological conditions.

Research and innovation feeds the future design of products and improvements, and we feel it’s important to involve guests in research that can make a difference to their lives, and people living with similar conditions.

We are keen to support our guests to be involved in research. This could look like:

  • Improving design of products, such as remote controls, by testing the products with the designer in Leuchie.
  • Being part of co-design projects to help design possible uses of service robots in care, for example.
  • Participating in qualitative studies to help researchers gauge how their technology may be perceived, for example, as in a study about the acceptability of using technologies in the home to monitor health and wellbeing.
  • Research related to a neurological condition such as being involved in the Speak Unique trial to further develop technology for people with dysarthric speech
  • Improving healthcare data linking by participating in studies to share data with NHS hospitals, for example.
