Leuchie’s vision is a world in which the independent potential of everyone living with a neurological condition is maximised by harnessing technology.
Our experience shows us that this gives carers back time, lowers risk and reduces the cost of care. Building on this vision, we have established a Centre for Enabling Technology within Leuchie House.
We offer 1-2-1 digital skills sessions and a range of technology-related workshops for guests.
SMART technology is integrated into all our bedrooms and includes lights, curtains and voice-controlled TV. We can show you how to use this technology.
Using Enabling Technology
We’re excited to be able to work with you, should you wish, to find Enabling Technology solutions that can help you to maximise your independence during your break at Leuchie, and after you’ve returned home.
Examples of recent technology help given, includes:
- Set up a new mini-iPad to link to a phone
- Used voice control and Siri to control a phone
- Sourced accessories to help guests use technology comfortably
- Adjusted phone settings for voice control use
- Discussed data privacy and security concerns
- Demonstrated features of Echo Show (Alexa with screen)
Because we can welcome people to stay at Leuchie for up to 11 nights at a time, we can undertake detailed assessments and meet the guest over several sessions during their stay to assess how they're getting on with the technology and if any further training or help is needed.
We can also make referrals, where the recommendation requires speech and language or other specialist input, such as for assessment for an environmental control system.
Many of our guests take us up on our offer to help and we're delighted to see enthusiasm and engagement with our growing Enabling Technology program.
At Leuchie, we test a number of smart technologies, which can help people living with long-term conditions.

Online Consultations
We also run online consultations, where we can assess and advise on the right technologies for you and your home. These sessions are hosted by our Re-Enabling Tech team.
We suggest a minimum donation to Leuchie of £50. This helps us to continue providing vital breaks to those who need them the most.
