A few years ago, Iain brought his Revitive to Leuchie. This is the gadget promoted by Claire Balding in an advert on television. Millions of users claim it improves circulation in the feet.

I look forward to seeing either Louise, Adele or Julia coming into the Quiet Room to take me down to have a session on the Vibrogym. This is an “industrial strength” version of the Revitive. The physio team take my shoes and socks off and place the feet on the foot plates, set the machine to operate at the maximum vibrations for one minute and push the GO button. The effect is immediate with my feet tingling and the colour gradually changing from blue to pink! The warm feeling slowly moving up to my knees. Five, one-minute sessions and the team quickly put my socks back on to retain the heat in my feet.

If a guest is concerned about poor circulation, ask one of the team to put you on the machine. They will start off on the gentlest of settings and providing you start to feel some benefit they will up the levels.

I had an injection of culture this holiday. Jackie could not find the usual musical but hit upon a stage adaptation of Harper Lee’s film “To Kill A Mocking Bird”. I had listened to the audio book and knew roughly what to expect. The brilliant production followed the narrative. The set changes were slick and done entirely by the cast! The highlight for me was Scout, the daughter of Aticus Finch. Her acrobatics for an actor in her 30s was amazing to see. There was a 5 minute standing ovation at the end, well it did go on for a long time! I missed all the curtain calls. Shows how good a performance it was. Thanks Jackie for an excellent choice.

Jim was well pleased when he saw Katie W had changed teams when she swapped her green tunic for a blue one!

My pocket money was docked when my mother found that I had been given five shillings when I helped the milkman at the weekend. I didn’t tell her how much I got when I was given a milk round in the summer holidays in case she charged me food and lodging !! (1) This started me on a journey of parsimony. I do not subscribe to any streaming services, so I look forward to my holiday at Leuchie and watching Netflix. My carers at home recommend programmes, so I have a long list of films to watch when I arrive. The Thursday Murder Club was a great view!

Notes:

(1) I grew up in a seaside village whose population more than doubled with holiday makers. The dairy had to put on an extra milk round to deliver to all the rented bungalows and houses. So that was my job.
